Sunlit Serenity: Discovering Venice’s Soul
Sunlit Serenity by Dries Bentein
This photo was, in essence, unplanned. We were wandering through the winding streets of Venice, where photographers often capture the typical picturesque scenes that flood the internet. But stumbling upon a hidden corner of Venice, something you don’t typically see, makes this photo truly special for me.
As we meandered through the narrow alleys, we came across an open door leading to a tiny courtyard. This was likely the entrance to someone’s home. The sunlight streamed in beautifully, enhancing the warmth of the orange walls. It perfectly captured the serene Italian ambiance. The tranquility that Italy offers is phenomenal, making it my favorite vacation destination.
What makes this photo particularly powerful is the "abundance of detail within the tranquility it exudes." The sunlight-bathed orange walls evoke a sense of calm and southern charm, but it’s the smaller details that enrich the scene. The little balcony adorned with plants and flowers, the fontanella, and the small shutters on the windows all contribute to the serene beauty. It’s remarkable how something as simple as an Italian courtyard can evoke such a strong feeling, making this one of my favorite photos.
